Emilie Raphael is a warm, calm, and compassionate counselor who believes that children heal best when they feel seen, understood, and safe. She specializes in working with children and adolescents through play therapy, helping them express emotions, process experiences, and build on their natural strengths.
Emilie creates a nurturing and collaborative environment where both children and their parents feel supported throughout the therapeutic journey. She works from a strengths-based and person-centered perspective, often integrating directive activities to help children build emotional awareness, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
Emilie graduated with her Master’s Degree in Counseling at Southern Methodist University, where she focused on Child and Adolescent Counseling.
Her clinical training includes experience at the SMU Center for Family Counseling, where she gained extensive experience working with play therapy clients and collaborating with parents through consultations and family sessions. Through this work, Emilie discovered how essential caregiver involvement is in a child’s progress. She deeply values parents’ perspectives and insights, viewing them as an integral part of the therapeutic process and a vital puzzle piece in a child’s overall growth.
In addition to her graduate practicum, Emilie has gained meaningful experience through her work at Momentous Institute, where she supported children and families using trauma-informed, relationship-centered practices. Her time there strengthened her understanding of emotional regulation, attachment, and the importance of play and connection in fostering resilience.
Emilie has also volunteered with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas at the STEM Center of Excellence at Camp Whispering Cedars, supporting campers’ emotional well-being through group and individual activities, and with Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, where she engaged children in play, art, and conversation to promote safety and healing.
Known by others as gentle, patient, empathetic, and deeply accountable, Emilie brings authenticity and care into every interaction.
Outside of her counseling work, she enjoys music, discovering new artists, making playlists, and attending live shows, as well as collaging and doing puzzles. She recently began learning golf as a fun way to connect with her parents, with whom she shares a close relationship, along with her older sister.
Emilie’s creativity, compassion, and deep respect for the family system make her a trusted and thoughtful partner in every child’s therapeutic journey.
