FALL CONTINUING EDUCATION 2025

High Conflict Divorce in Play Therapy December 5, 2025

🧸 When Play Therapy Meets Parental Conflict

You love working with children in the playroom. But when their parents are in the middle of a bitter custody dispute, suddenly therapy feels less safe and much more complicated.

You find yourself walking on eggshells, unsure how to respond to angry emails, court threats, or parents who try to pull you into their battles. Maybe you fear saying the wrong thing, being subpoenaed, or making a mistake that could harm the therapeutic relationship or your license.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

This workshop is designed to help you feel confident, clear, and empowered when navigating high-conflict divorce cases in play therapy. You will learn exactly how to set and hold boundaries that protect both you and your client, without feeling harsh or cold.

🧠 Why This Training Matters

High-conflict divorce can leave even seasoned therapists feeling anxious and overwhelmed. This training will help you step out of fear and into clarity, so you can show up confidently for your clients. You’ll walk away knowing how to:

  • Say “no” professionally and kindly
  • Stay grounded when parents are volatile or litigious
  • Keep therapy focused on the child even in the midst of chaos

This isn’t just about compliance. It’s about reclaiming your confidence and peace of mind so you can focus on what matters most: helping children heal.

📚 Backed by Ethical Best Practice

This workshop draws from established guidelines for play therapy, child-focused divorce work, and legal-ethical standards to help you feel both supported and safeguarded. You’ll gain tools you can implement immediately in your practice.

✨ Empower Yourself in the Toughest Cases

You don’t have to dread working with children of divorcing parents. With the right tools and clear policies, you can stay compassionate, calm, and confident even when the adults around you are not.

Join us on December 5, 2025, for High Conflict Divorce in Play Therapy and leave with the strategies, language, and documentation tools to protect your clients, your practice, and yourself.

Learning Objectives

Navigating high-conflict divorce cases in play therapy requires clarity, confidence, and a firm ethical stance. This workshop equips therapists with tools for setting clear boundaries, establishing defensible policies, and documenting sessions with precision. We’ll explore how to support the child’s emotional world without becoming triangulated into parental conflict, and how to protect both the therapeutic relationship and your licensure.

  1. Describe at least three boundary-setting strategies when working with high-conflict divorce cases in play therapy.
  2. Identify documentation practices that reduce risk and increase defensibility in contentious custody situations.
  3. Discuss how to avoid triangulation while maintaining a child-centered therapeutic focus.
