About the workshop

In this workshop, we will be reviewing different theoretical models to understand racial identity development and how we as humans move through different stages of change to understand our own racial identity as well as those of others. We will discuss how to create anti-racist clinical spaces for the clinical session as well as supervision and consultation. Lastly, we will look at body and sensory oriented techniques to aid in healing racial wounds. Time will be reserved for questions and answers to process the material presented. 


  1. List and describe at least three racial identity models of development
  2. List and describe the stages of change
  3. Identify ways to respond to our clients and supervisees depending on their stage of racial identity as well as their stage of change
  4. List and describe at least three different ways we can begin racial healing in our bodies


9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Registration, welcome, coffee and pan dulce

11:30 a.m. 15 minute break


11:45 a.m. Stages of Change, Compassion as a change agent, Art activity


12:45 p.m. Body Oriented Healing and brief guided meditation


1:15 p.m. Q&A Panel and discussion wrap up


Registrants of this program must be qualified mental health professionals or students of a graduate mental health program.

Antoinette Martinez, M.Ed. is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas License #71350) who has experience working with children, teens, and adults. She is a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor through the Association for Play Therapy, a Certified EMDR Consultant through EMDRIA, and certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. Antoinette Martinez has been integrating EMDR with Play Therapy since 2013 and teaching, training, and leading discussion groups on race and diversity since 2020. Antoinette owns a group private practice and provides business consultation to other mental health professionals. 


  • No refunds after the start of the program.
  • Cancellation received at least 14 days prior to a scheduled training will be refunded minus a $25.00 administrative fee.
  • Cancellation received less than 14 days prior to a scheduled training will receive no refund or credit.
  • No refund provided for no-shows or missed training.
  • You may transfer your registration to another attendee for no fee, so long as that person meets the qualifications to attend this program.
  • Attendance at full program is required.
  • All programs are subject to sufficient registration.
  • Should Nourish Play Therapy LLC need to cancel this program, we will make every attempt to notify paid registrants in a timely manner. All paid registrants will receive a full refund if a program is canceled.
  • Nourish Play Therapy LLC is only responsible for the registration costs of training. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the registrant.
  • No exceptions will be made to these policies.

This training program is not being audio or video recorded. 


Individuals who fully participate in this program will receive 4.5 hours of continuing education meeting criteria for diversity, inclusion, and ethics. 


This program satisfies the continuing education requirements for LPC's in Texas, LMFT's in Texas, Social Workers in Texas, and The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. 


Nourish Play Therapy LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its contents in accordance with APT, EMDRIA, and The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
